For three weeks (and more), @akiva will provide a selection of curated films chosen for teens and focusing on themes of Israel and Jewish Identity. All participating groups and institutions will receive a “playbill” discussion guide and an interactive film festival experience, which will include opportunities for Zoom watchalongs, popcorn bars, lesson plans for introducing the films to teen audiences, and ShinShin reflection/commentary on the films.
1. Three weeks of Film Celebration (February 1-21, 2021) – Teens, families, and Jewish educators will have the opportunity to watch 7 curated films. The screening of these films will be free for registered viewers nationwide. During this period, we will offer live virtual programming, including watch-alongs, live chats with Israelis, cooking lessons, and more. In addition, we will offer webinars for Jewish educators, focusing on how to use these films with their teen audiences, and office hours for 1:1 consultations. Both special events and webinars will be free and open to registered participants.
2. Israel in Shorts during Jewish Time (February 21-May 31, 2022) – During this period, we will provide educators from across the country access to screen one or two of the films to their students. We will also provide the educators with lesson plans for each of the films. All screenings will be free.
