Day 1 and 2 (6.19-20.2016): The Wait, and the Victory by Gabrielle Sudilovsky

30 seconds left. 10 seconds left. 5 seconds left. The game is over. THE CAVS WIN!

Rewind. It’s day one. Well actually it’s day zero because we’re still in the U.S. As I’m told I’m doing the blog today, I’m annoyed. Upset. Mad. Why do I have to blog the day we aren’t even in Israel? Why did Tina and Amnon make me the unlucky one?

30 seconds left. 10 seconds left. 5 seconds left. The game is over. THE CAVS WIN!

I’m not the unlucky one. Standing in line to board the plane, the icnext squad erupts in cheers and screams as the rest of the airport looks at us in horror. We are causing a scene and we don’t care. After watching game 7 of the NBA finals game for hours at a cramped airport sports bar in JFK, the time to board the plane arrives. The game is tied, 89 to 89. The series is tied 3 to 3. Everything depends on these next few moments, and we are waiting in a line to board the plane a full hour before we are scheduled to take off. The timing couldn’t be worse. Waiting and waiting, still tied. 89-89. Time passed as slowly as when you are just waiting for the last bell to ring on Friday, waiting for that sweet release from math and science and english and history for 2 days of pure freedom. At long last, “I’m on ESPN.com and the Cavs have won the championship!” As I hear this information announced, I knew this trip will be one to remember, filled with unbelievable opportunities and moments I know I will never ever forget, even if we are as busy as a traffic conductor during Rush Hour. As Tina always says, we can sleep when we get home.
