Yad Vashem and Lunch at the Shook by Asher Rosenberg

Today, we visited Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. Although it was not my first time visiting Yad Vashem, this time it had a very different effect on me. I think one of the reasons that I felt more connected to Yad Vashem this time was our tour guide.  Our tour guide was able to make this experience feel more personal. Another reason that this tour was more impactful for me was that we had over three ours to look around the museum. And also there was definitely a different feeling being there during a war. This war tied the story the museum was telling into life today in Israel. Being there with both my icnext friends and the Israeli teen shinim made me feel supported and less sad. I cannot believe how the people in Israel are more worried about American Jews than they are about themselves.
After we went to Yad Vashem we went to shook Mahane Yehuda for some lunch and time to hang out. I ended up getting shawarma in laffa, but just as I was taking my first bite, a lady bumped into me. She knocked my water bottle out of my hands and when I tried to grab it my shawarma fell to the ground. But I was lucky and the cook saw the incident and made me a new sandwich. After that experience, I just walked around the shook and ended up getting a t-shirt. Overall,  today was filled with fun activities, delicious food and Israeli friends.
