Interview with Palestinian-Israeli, Ibrahim Abu Ahmad by Gavi Lappen

Today, we met for an hour with an Israeli Palestinian, Ibrahim Abu Ahmad. I found this lecture very interesting for many reasons. Ibrahim talked about many things that were related to the events of October 7, pre and post, and the meaning of being Palestinian in Israel. He also mentioned that he runs a podcast, ‘Unapologetic’, where he talks about the conflict. I found this lecture so interesting because we rarely have the opportunity to listen to this perspective on the story. It was amazing to hear what others went through and how they felt/dealt with their problems. Ibrahim mentioned that when he found out about the events on October 7, he was scared because he knew that he could be the target of a retaliation. He explained his reasonings for striving for peace between Israeli and Palestinian people even though it will be a long process. Many people from the Palestinian side don’t view him as a part of their people. They feel  he is going against their views by supporting Israel. He said that it is really important for people to know what is going on, and to know what needs to happen in order to bring peace. So when he talked about calling himself an Israeli Palestinian and not an Arab Israeli, it really made me think of how everyone can make a difference in helping out the country. And with that I believe that everyone can do the right thing.
