Everyone Was Filled With Emotion by PJ Ryan

On Friday, June 14, I had a chance to see and be apart of something really special. I didn’t know what to expect because I have never been to something like this, this kind of thing doesn’t happen in Cleveland so it was very different for me. It was the ceremony for the hostages. But I will start at the beginning of the day.
That morning we woke up very early, of course,  we had to do a lot. And with me being me I had gone to bed pretty late the night before,  so I was very tired that morning. Before the hostage ceremony we went to the Holocaust Museum. I was very surprised because even though I have been before, I learned a lot of new things which I was happy about. After the museum we went to the ceremony. When we first got there we were handed a pamphlet with all the songs. At that second I was a little disappointed - but it was expected - that all the songs were in Hebrew. Each pamphlet came with a yellow flower, and for some reason that was very special right from the start. I knew that flower means spreading joy and happiness, so before the songs I knew what was gonna go on to an extent. With the songs being in Hebrew I knew I would have to pay attention a little harder and listen carefully to everything on the song and around me. From the start of the ceremony I was extremely tired and honestly falling asleep. But I decided I needed to wake up and really take it all in. With the songs being in Hebrew I really didn’t know what was being said but I could tell based off of the singer’s emotion, expressions, and tone that it was very serious and meaningful to him. You could tell he cared so much about the hostages and their families but also about Israel. Even without words I could tell how much heart he put into each song. The people around me also told the same story, with putting their hearts into each song, and also crying which showed me how much it mattered  to everyone there.
